The Bradford Vegan Festival is now only a short time away, on the 24th June VFUK will land at Bradford Football Club for the first time. Join thousands of visitors from across the UK for this family fun day out.
As I have said before, you don’t need 7 reasons to visit a vegan festival, the fact that we are supporting the largest movement in the world is reason enough, but all the same here are 7 big reasons…
1. Award Nominated Vegan Festival
Vegan Festival UK has been recently nominated for BEST LIVE EXPERIENCE at the Tyne & Wear Lifestyle Awards 2016, this is obviously a huge honour not only because of the public nominating us, but being a chosen as a finalist from hundreds of other amazing events throughout the region.
Our last event at Newcastle upon Tyne (only last week) received an overwhelming turnout, the footfall was amazing (several thousand), ticket sales show that Bradford Vegan Festival 2017 is on course for record attendance.
2. Amazing Vegan Businesses
This year we have a huge selection of vegan business’s coming from across the UK. If you have ever been to one of our festivals before you may recognize some of our exhibitors, but this year we have many new companies you may have never heard of. If you are not vegan or vegetarian you will soon realise that removing animal products from our lives, is easier than you think. Come and talk to these amazing companies, maybe taste / try some of there fabulous products and support the vegan movement.
This is what stall holders had to say about our previous event.
3. Awesome Vegan Speakers
Hanna Sillitoe is the author of best selling book Radiant explains how this 100% natural approach to healing skin cured her psoriasis, eczema and acne for life.
Elizabeth King has been vegan for 12 years and is an active campaigner, helping to run local and national vegan outreach events and workshops for the Vegan Approach. She also delivers talks about vegan nutrition and her aim is to help people to become happy and healthy vegans.
Pendal Spring Song has been the guide, teacher and mentor on this incredible journey between human and horse to veganism. This book views the horse as sentient being and is the fore runner of a movement which is awakening all over the world as the new breed of horse guardians are stirring up a revolution and kicking back against the cruelty and ignorance dominating the horse world. It is estimated that over the next 100 years we will be living in a world containing 10 billion people and in an ideal utopia the author would like to see all animals released from domestication and slavery and given the right to reclaim their freedom and wildness. The truth is that this may not be possible …. As the human population explodes and land resources become more depleted we must therefore progress forward to a world where all have equal rights and where there is no speciesism. Horses are the link to a better world because of their sensitivity and healing powers and this is the story of how one horse, Pendal Spring Song, has started that journey towards liberation and a non-violent world.
After her superb talk at Newcastle Vegan Festival last week, we have just added guest speaker Fiona Oakes to our line up, Fiona is a British marathon runner, who holds three world records for marathon running.
In 2013, she won both the Antarctic Ice Marathon and the North Pole Marathon. She runs despite losing a knee cap from an illness when she was 17. Fiona has been vegan since 6 years old. She runs Tower Hill Stables Animal Sanctuary and is a patron of the Captive Animals Protection Society. Fiona works long hours on a sanctuary that she runs almost single-handedly, on which she cares for 400 animals including horses, pigs, sheep and dogs. She also fundraise’s for the sanctuary, for which the food bill is over £5000 per month, and for other animal issues. Typical working days start before dawn and end around 8pm on her sanctuary in Essex, UK.
4. Some Free Vegan Stuff
As with our previous festivals the stall holders encourage you to try their wares, this normally comes in the form of food tasting or drinks. This year we will be handing some vegan goodies and vouchers to vegan restaurants in the area. As with most things that are free – first come first served.
5. Lots Of Things To Do In Bradford
If you are visiting Bradford for several days, why not check out the Bradford Industrial Museum, National Media Museum, Bronte Parsonage Museum, Lister Park or the Bradford Alhambra. If your looking (for some reason) your still hungry after the festival, why not pop along to these vegan eateries (Dandelion Cafe or The 1 in 12 Club Cafe)
6. A Fair Ticket Price
One of the main aims of VFUK is to inform and educate the people of the UK on the benefit’s of going Vegan, by keeping our ticket prices to a minimum this allows the Veg-Curious to come along and see that going Vegan can improve your health, help the environment and save lives of animals. Ticket price range from £1 – £2 which is a very cheap fun day out.
7. VFUK Is The Only Family Run Vegan Festival
If your an exhibitor, speaker or a visitor just ask one of the team for help – Andrew (My Partner), Lewis (My Brother), Mark (My Dad), Dawn (My Mam) or even ask my son (Baby Mason) unfortunately he’s too young to talk (but you may get a smile).
Can’t wait – the 1st Bradford vegan festival
