Venue : The Megacentre – Address : Bernard Rd, Sheffield S2 5BQ – Date : Saturday 15th September 2018 – Time : 10:30am – 4:30pm
The annual Sheffield Vegan Festival is upon us once again. VFUK held Sheffield first ever vegan festival back in 2016 (Sheffield Vegan Festival 2016) . Sheffield will be our last stop of our 2018 summer UK festival tour. Although this is our third annual visit to Sheffield, this year we will have a larger venue than previous years, this year our venue will be at The MegaCentre.

We are sure to make Sheffield Vegan Festival 2018 an amazing, memorable and obviously a cruelty free day out for the whole family. Along with the fact that VFUK is the UK’s only family run Vegan Festival, a very low ticket price, our venue boasts free parking and the fact that you are supporting the largest growing movement in the world is reason enough to attend, but here are 5 more big reasons to visit Sheffield vegan festival this year.
1. Multi Award Winning Festival
Although Vegan Festival UK has been nominated for many awards over the years, we always got beat to the post by larger business, but last year we were asked to attend
the prestigious national P.E.A Awards in London. It was huge honour to be a finalist among some of the UK’s leading sustainable companies, but hearing “The Winner Is Vegan Festival UK” was a little surreal. For more details on this amazing evening (P.E.A Awards), also this July 2nd 2018 we were chosen from a long list of festivals and events, to become the winner of Festival Of The Year 2018.
That fact that we have been even nominated for these awards is fanatic, but becoming a finalist and then winning is awesome. Only recently we have also been nominated for Best Vegan Festival by Vegfest, so if you enjoyed our previous festivals please pop over to the VegFest website and vote for us.
2. Amazing Vegan Businesses
Sheffield will welcome a large selection of vegan business’s coming from across the UK. If you have ever been to one of our festivals before you may recognize some of our business’s, but this year we have many new companies you may have never heard of. If you are not vegan or vegetarian you will soon realise that removing animal products from our lives, is easier than you think. Come and talk to these amazing companies, maybe taste / try some of there fabulous products and support the vegan movement.
This is what stall holders had to say about our previous event.
3. Speakers & Guests
At all our festivals we have a selection of interesting talks from our speakers and guests, Sheffield Vegan Festival 2018 talks include :-
VEGETERIAN FOR LIFE : If I get dementia, will they serve me meat?
Charity V for Life is pleased to have released two new film shorts. They aim to draw attention to two serious questions that concern older vegans and vegetarians. Will my lifestyle and beliefs be understood and respected in a care environment? And if I get dementia, will they serve me meat? We urge you to get informed – if you aren’t already – about these important issues. One day, there will be clear policies and regulations about how to support older vegans and vegetarians. V for Life is trying to make that day come sooner.
PSYCHO SID : Psycho Syd will be giving one of his eye-popping talks at Sheffield Vegan Festival. Make sure you are there to laugh, cry and cheer. This is something very different. Syd was diagnosed with stage four inoperable mouth cancer and given just six months to live in April 2012. He was alone with two young children aged 14 and 4 as he fought for his life. He became a raw vegan and on 27th July 2018 he was given the all clear and is now 100% cancer free. Don’t miss the mind-blowing presentation.
JOHN AWEN : John Awen talks are based around the dairy and meat industries, interspersed with the cruelty that is apparent towards many species sadly. John talks about the path of least resistance really, how we should ease suffering, love all life and the devastating effects animal agriculture has upon the animals, us, our health and the planet, how we can make more sustainable choices and ease suffering across all spectrums.
The Vegan Approach : 10 STEPS TO GOING VEGAN Are you thinking about going vegan? Have you tried being vegan before but come across some challenges? Are you a new vegan? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then please join us at one of our Vegan Approach workshops. During the workshop we outline our 10 simple steps to start you on your vegan journey including what to buy, where to eat, and how to deal with family and friends. We will also answer any questions you have about going vegan.
4. Some Free Vegan Stuff
As with our previous festivals the stall holders encourage you to try their wares, this normally comes in the form of food tasting or drinks. This year we will be handing some vegan goodies and vouchers to vegan restaurants in the area. As with most things that are free – first come first served.
5. Sheffield Is An Amazing City
If you take the time to come and visit us at our new venue (The Megacentre), why not take in Sheffield’s fantastic tourists hots spots such as the Botanical Gardens and the Kelham Island Museum. We hope to make this event the largest vegan event Sheffield has ever seen, but we can’t do this with out your support, so please take an hour out of your day on Saturday 15th September and support our cause.
