Fin For Fought Talks Sheffield Vegan Festival

Emma Laird is a 20 year old English model. From first seeing sharks in aquariums she found herself enticed by their dangerous reputation, wanting to prove people wrong about this common misconception derived from the infamous Jaws films. From that early age, they became her favorite animal and her passion continued throughout school as I learned more about this magnificent species and the danger that they are in because of us humans.

Award Winning Vegan Cakery In The Media

The winner of best vegan cakes / deserts was the amazing Vegan Cakery, over 53,000 people voted via our polling system, and the winners announced at Sheffield Vegan Festival on July 23rd by Fiona Oakes.

Michelle, who has donated thousands of pounds to animal sanctuaries and charities since the company began in 2012, said: “This really does mean so much to me. “I can’t express how grateful I am to all of the people who voted for The Vegan Cakery in the Vegan Awards UK. “My amazing customers are the ones who help to make the Cakery what it is.

This is all thanks to them. “As raising money for animal charities and sanctuaries was one of the main driving forces behind starting the business in the first place, I like to think as many votes were because of that as they were for the quality of my cakes and treats.” Michelle was presented with the award by vegan athlete Fiona Oakes, who holds three world records having completed marathons all over the world, including in Antarctica and the North Pole.

Michelle said: “It was so nice accepting the award from Fiona. “She’s someone I admire hugely for her incredible athletic prowess, her promotion of the huge benefits of a vegan diet and the inspiring work she does for animals with her own sanctuary in Essex. “

Thanks for being vegan

Thank You Sheffield!

Saturday July 23rd was our 1st installment of the Sheffield Vegan Festival. The event went off without any serious problems (well maybe one or two), thanks to a small team of volunteers, amazing stall holders, very informative speakers and of course the attendees, most traveling considerable distance to get to the event. With out you guys there would be no festival.

I would like to say a special thanks to Fiona Oakes, who took time out of her very very busy schedule to travel the length of the country to present the Vegan Awards 2016, conduct a talk and then return home the same day.

Huge thanks to Rehana Sara Jomeen, Mick Walker, Kate E A Berridge, Elizabeth King & Janette McSkimming.

The attendance at the event was amazing, the venue was stunning, the city beautiful and the weather was great. We will be returning next year around the same time, so watch this space for tickets 2017’s bigger and better Sheffield Vegan Festival. One last thing – all pics & vids – will be posted on our Gallery Page, so check it out when you have a mo.

Without stalls, without speakers and without attendees – there is no festival. Thank you to everyone.
