David Haye Vegan told the Independent newspaper the reason he became vegan “I watched a TV documentary about how animals are farmed, killed and prepared for us to eat,” he explains, shaking his head. “I saw all those cows and pigs and realised I couldn’t be a part of it any more. It was horrible. I did some research to make sure I could still obtain enough protein to fight and, once satisfied that I could, I stopped. I’ll never go back.”
More and more athletes are becoming vegan, including Mark Hunt Vegan Heavyweight MMA fighter.
David stepped back into the ring on Saturday 16th January 2016 after coming out of retirement and as his first fight being a vegan. David has not hid away from the fact that he has changed his eating habits, in almost every interview leading up to his big fight he has made us aware of how becoming vegan has changed the way he is fighting and how it has improved his recovery time.
If you are interested in becoming vegan or have questions related to a cruelty free lifestyle, why not pop along to one of our vegan festivals through out the UK.
