Despite the weather was not being the best (in fact it was bloody awful), the Newcastle Vegan Festival 2017 was a overwhelming success. Only a few short years ago, the expected turn out at a vegan festival would be nothing to write home about, but now (2017) these type of events can bring crowds from far and wide even in the most challenging of conditions.
We would like to thank everyone who was involved in this years festival, including all the speakers who have travelled considerable distances to share their stories and knowledge with the people of Newcastle. Thanks to Elizabeth King who shared her knowledge and tips on how to go and stay vegan, thanks to best selling author Hanna Sillitoe who shared her knowledge on skincare, thanks to Fiona Oakes for continuing to inspire us with her athletic ability and unparalleled empathy, and we would also like the thank Heather Mills for taking time out of her insanely busy schedule to fly into the north east and talk at our festival, we have already had considerable feedback (less than 24hrs after the fest) on how inspirational this talk was.
Thanks to all the stall holders that have prepared some of the most scrumptious foods that any human could experience, thanks to all you guys who produce cruelty free products and thanks to everyone who had a hand in helping this movement grow, this includes everyone who has attended the festival including all non-vegans / veg-curious and everyone who has liked, followed or shared us on social media. Finally I personally would like to thank all the staff at the Assembly Rooms (our venue) that went above and beyond the call of duty to iron out technical issues we had.
One last thing.. Festival’s such as this one are more than a collection of stalls and talks at a venue, but a place to meet old friend, make new friends and in some cases (like one of our previous festivals) meet your new spouse.
Please wish us luck at our first Bradford Vegan Festival on the 24th June (only 2 weeks away).
