If you are looking for a Vegan Pub in Newcastle upon Tyne, you may have a hard time, but to our knowledge the Ship Inn in Newcastle upon Tyne is the North East’s first totally Vegan Pub.
At time of writing (updating) 13th August 2016, this small but amazing pub serves all vegan grub, ample seating even for the largest of families, great service. I had beetroot burger and chips (pictured right), it was delicious, others had chick pea curry and rice.
The move to a plant based menu was a is a new thing for The Ship Inn, and in fact I dont think the locals (regulars) are aware as the word Vegan or Plant Based was nowhere to be seen. Lets hope other pubs in the area or even nationally take up this idea, and move to a 100% vegan menu. Well done Ship Inn, great friendly place, with a delicious menu.
I came across an article this morning while surfing the interweb, its about a pub in north Oxford that has a amazing vegan menu.
A north Oxford pub is hoping its recognition as one of the UK’s most vegan-friendly pubs will encourage people in the county to eat less meat. The Gardeners Arms in Plantation Road was shortlisted by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) as one of the top 10 vegan pubs and was praised for its selection of vegan items.
Pub owners Paul Silcock and Andy Skinner said they were pleased their genuine belief in veganism had paid off. Mr Silcock said: “It’s amazing to have been recognised by a charity as big as PETA because they have the same ethical thoughts and beliefs as us.
